Merit Advisors was formed by Paul Cunningham in 1988. It was birthed out of frustration with the stream of investment recommendations coming out of the research department of his broker/dealer. Paul found there was always plenty of "buy" advice, but never any "sell" advice, even in bear markets. He became convinced there was a better way to help investors manage their investments. While many securities do perform well over time, the question Paul was asking was whether similar, or better, results could be achieved without the volatility associated with the stock market. After extensive research and back testing, Merit's High Yield Bond Strategy was created. Paul went "live" with the model in June of 1987. The High Yield Bond Strategy continues to be as effective today as it was when it was introduced 24 years ago. For independently verified annual returns, please visit our Performance section. For more detailed information on how the High Yield Bond Strategy works, please click here.
In September of 2010 Merit launched a new investment strategy, which we call our Multi-Sector Bond Strategy. It employs a model similar to the time-tested model used for our high yield bond strategy. We see this as a significant addition to our investment management services. For back-tested and real performance results, please visit the Performance section. Returns from our investment strategies are NOT BANK GUARANTEED, NOT FDIC INSURED and MAY LOSE MONEY. Before you invest in any fund, obtain a prospectus and study it carefully. Please see additional disclosures.
